Just got home from transportation tasks so sorry for the delay in giving my thoughts.
Today I saw some of the best hockey played by the team so far this season!
We went 2 up from strikes by Stan J and kept trying to feed him for his hat-trick.
The concession to give them their first goal late in the game gave Belper the opportunity to get something from the game and their goal 8 seconds before the final whistle wasn’t in the run of the game.
Until 10 minutes before the end, they didn’t look as if they would offer any resistance.
Support provided by birthday boy Adam B, Craig B and Stan was really appreciated - thanks guys!
Some notable performances by Archie and the other youngsters didn’t go un-noticed.
Greg and Norman were their normal rock like barriers to many waves of attacks with Bing and Adam driving through the centre to develop scoring opportunities.
It was great to welcome Owain’s return, he slotted back in like he hadn’t been away from the game for several seasons
Stan’s brace added to his season’s tally and undoubtedly his confidence in his ability - but his jug avoidance is still being debated!
The overall game impression was that we showed that we can play some great hockey and that everyone put a lot into the game and will continue to improve and enjoy our hockey.
