Match Report

Today’s game went ahead despite a lot of team setbacks throughout the week and up to 11:00 today
The cooperation from North Notts helped tremendously. They lent us a ladies and a mens player which took us to 9.
Nel helped with the last minute and welcome volunteering by Ella and Liv took us to 11 – thanks ladies!!
The game was played in an incredibly good spirit from both sides and opportunities were available to each team to score.
The ball found its way through to Shep, our guest from North Notts and he popped in the goal just like he’s been doing his entire Hockey career! 1:0 to “South”
NNotts got a goal back but Fletcher struck a good goal to take the score to 2:1.
Some tremendous link up play between Oscar and the debutant Archie on the right hand side led to some fantastic opportunities for South.
Archie had a brilliant first game for South and we look forward to seeing him progress.
The play between Liv, Fletcher, Norman and Ella led to numerous opportunities to score but the other forwards couldn’t convert.
Dylan, fresh from being carried off from a football injury earlier today was itching to get onto the pitch. The captain made him wait till half time when he could fully assess and decide whether he should play. The conclusion was that the injury had settled and Shep offered to sit the second half off so Dylan could play – and what a game he had! He was running all over the pitch with absolutely no sign of his earlier injury.
Fraser only touched the ball twice throughout the whole game but his sliding tackle took the ball away from them and hence their late goal scoring opportunity.
Graham Morgan made some incredible jab tackles to take the ball from them when it appeared on unwinable - he had a very good game!
North Notts ladies player loanee made herself very useful by breaking down some of her clubs attacks.
It looked as if the score is going to end up at 2:1 just before the final whistle blue Ken got an opportunity and put the ball in their goal.
Final score 3:1 to South but after the cooperation showed, today the winner was Hockey!
Thanks to Will H and Fin for umpiring for us today Apart from not being able to tell the time, they did a great job of overseeing the game
