A glorious day for hockey turned into a disastrous day for the men of South 3s.
Missing a number of players through injury and unavailability, South 3s called upon the services of 3 willing members from elsewhere (thanks Ben and the 2 Adams) to fill the ranks.
On a must win game to keep our chances of avoiding the dreaded drop, optimism was high even after suspicious were raised regarding the members of the opposition.
A decent start by the reds saw some good build up play but it was the opposition that took the lead.
Tom B had another one of his shots miraculously saved by the keeper to deny an equaliser. The opposition then made the most of their chances to go into half time with a small lead.
South were still in the game and eager to snatch another win from defeat, but the hockey Gods had other ideas.
Even though the reds through caution to wind the opposition held and made the most of the counter attacks to increase their lead.
2 goals from captain Craig (even though he generously gifted 1 to Tom B) couldn't bring back the reds to a much needed win. End score 2-7 with much frustration and disappointment shared by all.
Last game next week a decider on the outcome of South 3s for the season away at Players 3s. Time to bring everything left in the tank for 1 last push and bring home the win, see you there chaps.
