So a bare bones 11 of South faced off against a full quota Barton 4s.
South made a strong start matching Barton stride for stride. Some good promising link up play down both flanks and through the middle. Good work up front brought a few close efforts that on other days would have struck the backboard but not today.
Barton unfortunately didn’t have the same fate as South with a couple of goals finding their way past our defence. 0-2 down at halftime.
Another spurring team talk at halftime saw South come out looking for a way back into the match. More promising link up play saw South move the ball into Barton territory but without any goals at the end.
Barton however didn’t share the same result, netting a further 2 goals for their efforts.
0-4 to Barton.
Into the last 10 minutes of the match and South finally made their hard work and effort pay off.
Some quick passes from one side of the pitch to the other found the ball pinged into the D for our Mikey to slot home.
With a renewed energy in the game South pushed harder. Some good technical play on the counter saw South move the ball well up front with the result being a very generous gift from Tom B to Mikey to find the back of the goal for number 2.
Sadly time and tired legs ran out with Barton holding out for the W.
