Men's 3rd XI Vs Boots 5

What a fantastic game from start to finish with every single person digging in deep and fighting for the much deserved win.  A win that it’s fair to say hit Boots hard as they definitely expected to walk over us. 

It was a beautiful display of a team playing together and working for each other creating space and opportunity consistently through the game. It was a tough game and at no point did Boots take their foot off the pedal and we really did have to work hard to keep their experienced team at bay. If at any point we had dropped a gear they would have had us, but absolutely nobody was prepared to do this.

I’m not going to go through everyone individually as you all did incredibly well and played your socks off for a true team performance, but I do need to mention one particular point in the game which I loved. 

Andy “Superman” Brinklow in goal, with boots running full speed towards him, shot was taken and Andy took off with what can only be described as a dive that quite literally would have made Superman look inadequate, it was incredible, and ensured that we didn’t go 1 down. Max was overjoyed and screamed support for his Dad that I think could have been heard back in Bingham! A fabulous moment! 

The game ended 2-0 to South, with two solid goals in the last 10 mins from our front two, Max Brinklow and Mike Shapland and 3 points in the bag.

If we can continue to play as a team like we did yesterday, we will be well on our way to securing many more points this season.
