| Match Report | irstly, and yes, I said this after the pre-season friendly, but another amazing performance by our young lads, who all had an incredible game! WB hit us hard at the start of the match scoring early in the half and with us having only 10 players for the most of the 1st half we had to dig in deep to keep them at bay. Going 2-0 down within 20 mins we had to rearrange the set up and add some additional strength in defence. This worked and by half time we had pulled back the score to 2-2! Two fabulous goals by Zak and Max brought us well and truly back in to the game. In the second half we came out strong and with a full team on the field we well and truly dominated play for pretty much the entire half but unfortunately WB managed to squeeze in another goal and then received a penalty stroke which took the score to 2-4. Never to be a team to give in, we dug deep and put the pressure on, which led to an incredible strike by Mr Batty which quite literally nearly took the keepers head off. The keepers face said it all! It was a mixture of fear, absolute panic and knowledge of the fact he was never going to do anything about saving it! In the last quarter we dominated the game and had we had another 5 mins I truly believe we would have won, but time wasn’t on our side. This was a fabulous first match of the league, we didn’t get the points but we walked away content in the fact we played a fabulous game of hockey and showed real resilience on the field. Well done and thank you to all of you for your continued drive and determination through the game. |
