Match Report | SNHC 3’s suffered some harsh treatment in the week by the League following an appeal from our heavily defeated opposition from last week, which was lapped up by the authorities and 8 points were deducted due to fielding ineligible players from the 2’s (who play in the same league) - dropping us from 4th to bottom of the table overnight. A number of changes to the line up saw South go into the rearranged match vs a Nottingham HC side (that we had beaten 7-0 in the opening fixture of the season) with a positive mindset to to put the negativity aside and let the hockey do the talking. In short, the possession stats were around 70-30% in favour of South with chance after chance being created, but the visitors had a game plan to smother anything and everything that came in their D. Only one South attempt found its way in thanks to a self preservation deflection by Elliot in front of goal. 1-0. Wave after wave of South attacks were thwarted by defenders, a keeper, both posts and the bar and true to form, Nottm caught South on the break twice and completed a “Smash n Grab” on an otherwise fairly one side sided affair. Notable performances by our youngsters, Tom C, Will B and especially Fraser R in debut in goal who pulled off a number of great saves. Final score : Thanks to Jim & Ben for keeping us in check! |
